Today we offer a wide array of services. Our programs range from providing support for members of the community who are infected or affected by HIV virus, to providing a safe space for community members to drop in. We are working towards telling our stories through research, advocacy and public policy. As we continue to evolve and discover new ways to live our lives, POCC Inc., will continue our dedication to programming that not only advocates for us, but propels us towards enjoying richer and fuller existences.

Derrick L. Briggs Discussions
An intimate space created for men of color to interact on a both creative and intellectual level. The mission of the group is to reinforce the strength of our voices as Black and Latino gay men, as both individuals and as a community with monthly topic discussions that range from online dating, communication strategies and internalize homophobia.

A secure space to hang out, watch TV, and interact with people like you and our friendly staff.
HIV Support Group
A space to discuss one’s experiences living with HIV as well as sharing ways to remain healthy.

Pride in the City
Members of the community coming together to celebrate pride. Pride in the City honors the lives of black gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender people from around the country.
Youth Support Group-Things of That Nature
Things of that Nature is a weekly discussion group specifically for youth and young adults. Activities include open discussions where group members have an opportunity to talk about anything of interests to them as youth. There are also conversations that are targeted towards prevention including: online dating safety tips, guest speakers/authors, HIV 101, safer sex strategies, movie night and game night to name a few of the activities available. During the beginning of every month, we celebrate every member of the youth group who is celebrating a birthday.
Young Men of Color Coalition
A collaboration of New York City agencies serving gay young men of color looking at the issues affecting our youth and finding ways to work collectively to better address them.
The Federation of Houses
The Federation of Houses is a group made up of the current Mothers and Fathers of the Houses in New York City. This coalition was created to better serve the House ball community by disseminating information, creating innovative programs to assist the youth of the HB community to achieve stability in career, education, health and wellness as it specifically deals with HIV/ STI and other maladies that disproportionately affect the HB community.
Sanctuary:
A Gathering for Black Gay/SGL men meets once a month in the offices of POCC in Brooklyn, NY. The group has been in existence since 2004.
The members choose topics that are relevant to our personal experiences that impact our ability to sustain committed relationships. We discuss everything from finances and communication to sex, gender roles, power & control and how "blackness" shapes our sexuality. The group participates in activities outside of our scheduled topic discussions such as couples retreats, double dating and many dinners at the homes of our members.
Through the discussions we hope conversations continue that would lead to a greater understanding of each other.
Substance Use Education
This is a quarterly presentation given to other Community Based organizations specifically speaking to the issues of Substance abuse and support services that will be needed to combat this ongoing issue within our community.
The C.O.R.E. NYC
Coalition of Responsible Entrepreneurs: New York City’s Hottest Party Promoters. This is a group of local Party Promoters dedicated to the health and wellbeing of the LGBT community of color. They are instrumental in presenting creative and innovative events at their venues that encourages confidential testing, counseling and linkage to proper health care and social services.
Trans-Group
Reflections are a transgender and gender non-conforming support group. Reflections goal is to explore transgender and gender non-conforming person who is in need of supportive services. The group's goal is to support and assist the transgender and gender non-conforming community with accessing resources available and successfully transitioning in a healthy and safe manner. We will provide assistance with accessing Health Care, Housing, Legal, name changing programs, Education, Social Services, Job readiness, resume building, safer sex methods and harm reduction, basic life skills, know your rights. Reflection has created an internet support group were client may discuss issue that are impacting the community.
Black Light Project
Blacklight is an initiative conceived by POCC, a Brooklyn-based prevention agency that targets black gay men. The purpose of the BlackLight series is to build a progressive network of black LGBTQ college students in the NY Metro area to discuss issues concerning our lives such as: community building and social life, job opportunities, popular culture and new coalitions between academia and grassroots politics.
For those students new to the city, the group can serve as a unique opportunity to learn more about the rich culture of black LGBTQ life in New York. Additionally, BlackLight provides college students with a special opportunity to connect to innovative programming efforts by POCC, such as the annual POCC Ball and PRIDE IN THE CITY (New York City's official pride celebration for Black LGBT people) the Black Gay Research Group and the National Black Gay Men's Advocacy Coalition.

Conversations with POCC is an online programming intervention that airs bi-weekly at www.canwebefrank.com in collaboration with Brooklyn’s POCC. The purpose of the intervention is to connect online readers to the various services and resources available at one of New York City’s premiere prevention agencies for and by black gay men. Structured as a series of video-taped, informal conversations between Frank Roberts and POCC staff, the intervention introduces online readers to a variety of issues related to the cultural politics of sex, sexuality, and HIV/AIDS in the black gay community.
Peer Education
The Peer Education Program at POCC is community outreach through harm reduction and information distribution to reduce the impact of HIV. While most harm reduction models have applied to drug use, POCC uses some of the same principles to reduce such behaviors that place Black MSM at risk for HIV infection. In accordance with the mission of POCC, approximately eight peers (age 18 and up) are recruited and trained twice yearly as Peer Educators to increase HIV prevention knowledge, awareness and community based services among black gay/bisexual men and MSM frequenting bars, dance clubs, community events, and public sex environments.
Ambassador Leadership Council
The Ambassadorship Leadership Council is a youth development program committed to unite gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and YMSM youth of color and to advocate, educate, and raise awareness about issues that impact the lives of GLBT youth of color within the Ballroom Community in New York City and to empower other GLBT youth of color to create positive changes within themselves and their communities. The ALC will acquire the necessary skills to become self-sufficient citizens, active advocates, and leaders among their peers and in their community.
Friday Night Forums
Collaboration between GMAD and POCC: Monthly topics are discussed on issues that are relevant to the LGBT community at large.
Boy-Toys
An interactive discussion group for all MSM (men who have sex with men) including Trans who classify themselves working as sex workers, including street walkers, escorts, porn stars and or exotic dancers. This group will focus on the lifestyle, health and prevention as well as risk and harm reduction will be infused in developing a different way of promoting safer sex methods in a non-judgmental environment.
Vogue Evolution
Vogue Evolution stands committed to effectively changing the lives of the LGBT community through the art of dance. By empowering Black and Latino gay youth around self-value while educating the community on HIV/AIDS awareness and encouraging the importance of getting tested now. Vogue Evolution takes responsibility for the cultural Evolution in and out of the “ballroom scene” creating powerful results in the world.
